We're Sabina and Michael – a native-speaker translation duo, and we translate English romance and romantasy into German for indie authors. Six years working as a team.
Sri Lanka by daylight, manuscripts by evening. Sabina translates and Michael proofreads (or the other way around – we trade off by project). Every line passes through both of us before it reaches you. Nothing leaves our desk that one of us hasn't read aloud at least once.
We work with indie authors specifically. The kind of authors who translate to expand a series, not to test if "international" is a viable strategy. Most of our clients come back with book two before book one is launched.
We work full-time, location-independent, from Sri Lanka. That's not a lifestyle flex – it's a deliberate choice. Low overhead means we can charge per-word, fixed-fee, and you keep 100% of your royalties forever. You're getting senior native-speaker craft for less than half what a Berlin agency would charge.
WHY US
Three things you'll only get from a duo that reads romantasy.
1. Two pairs of eyes, every time. One translates, the other proofreads. Same two people. Every line. We catch each other's blind spots – including the ones the AI tools don't see.
2. We know the genre, including the tropes. We've translated 30+ books in romance and romantasy. We know what "morally grey" should sound like in German. We know the difference between "spicy" and "explicit," and we adjust the heat-level register accordingly.
3. Series-ready by default. Every romantasy book is a glossary problem (names, places, magic systems, in-world neologisms). We build that glossary in week one and lock it down. Book two reads like book one.
